Steve Or Steven Read is a software artist (and painter slash musician biologist or designer-writer entrepreneur and engineer photographer) who works experimentally through an investigation into the forms of waste, inventories, and erotics implicit within the systems and processes of an information economy. Found data is often used and re-codified as source material, and when processed with imagined data, custom software, and chance operations a wide variety of form and/or meaning is allowed for. Any datum used or created, is a datum. He began coding software programs and writing/performing music in the early 1980's. He has published over 1000 pages of text and images to the Internet starting in 1996. His works in various media have been consumed by millions. He was born in 1972 in South Florida, did time in Tallahassee, Atlanta, then Denver, and currently resides in New York City. He hopes you enjoy the today.
