biography

Marilena Skavara is a London based architect. She is also a registered architect in Greece. She is dedicated to well-designed projects from architectural and urban design to industrial design and graphics. She has participated in several international competitions and has worked on residential and interior design projects as a freelancer. One of her particular interests is that of creating experiential spaces and in exploring the possibilities of evolutionary approaches in design, using genetic algorithms. Her latest project 'Adaptive fa[ca]de' was exhibited at 'Digital Hinterlands' exhibition in London in fall 2009 and published in 'Passages Through Hinterlands' book which featured projects of leading graduates and young practices. She is currently tutoring at the MSc AAC course in the Bartlett at the Digital Ecology and EEmTech modules. MSc Adaptive Architecture & Computation, Bartlett, UCL, London, 2009.
