Composer Kenneth Kirschner was born in 1970 and lives in New York City. An advocate of open source music, he releases his work freely online through his website, which offers a complete, freely accessible archive of all of his published recordings. His music has also been released on CDs and DVDs from labels such as Sub Rosa, 12k, Line, Sirr, Leerraum, and/OAR and Room40 (all under open licenses such as Creative Commons), as well as online through a wide variety of netlabels and other sources. Kirschner regularly performs internationally, both on his own and in collaboration with Taylor Deupree as part of their post_piano series. Kirschner’s recent projects have included Filaments & Voids, a 2-CD collection of his compositions published by 12k; an electroacoustic flute work commissioned by SHSK’H; a performance at the opening ceremony of the 2009 Qwartz Awards in Paris; a curated selection of his work for UbuWeb; and Toys, a forthcoming box set documenting his collaboration with acclaimed multimedia artist Herman Kolgen. http://kennethkirschner.com Recognized for his multimedia creations for over twenty years, Herman Kolgen is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in montreal. A true audiocinetic sculptor, he draws his primary material from the intimate relationship between sound and image. Kolgen works to create objects that assume the form of installations, video and film works, performances and sound sculptures.
