- Gary James Joynes is a dedicated musician, sound designer, and visual artist. He is fascinated by the sources of electronic composition and draws ideas from everyday soundscapes; objects and mechanisms stimulate his process. Clinker's mission not only explores the ever-evolving language of technology it is also interested in the effects on people this environment poses. Clinker’s audio explores a hybrid of digital and analog sound textures created using a combination of digital modular and analog synthesis programming. Recent work has included music composition, sound/video design and live performance for Isabelle Rosseau's "Bronze Age" AV Project presented at Expanse 2006. A video to accompany “Teilmenge 24” an audio piece by Asmus Teitchens will soon be released by Innova Recordings on the “Trimix” Compilation CD/DVD. Recent performances include the Electrols and Sea of Sound festivals (Edmonton), and the Mutek Le Placard festival in June 2005 (Montreal). The last few years have seen Clinker’s work performed and exhibited in Canada and abroad in festivals including Standart 2003 (Madrid, Spain), the New Forms Festvial 2003 (Vancouver). In May 2003 CLINKER made his premiere outside his native Alberta at the Mutek festival in Montreal.
