biography

Artist or Designer? We seem so confused about the difference these days. Maybe I am too. I focus my efforts on realizing projects involving clothing and architecture. I find the line, common in both, separating our inner self and the outside world, delineations in social space fascinating. I split my time between attempting to create original pieces and commercial work. I apply my creative vision to each work. I envision a future where clothing enables, enhances and facilitates our communication. Working with fabric presents unique challenges: Is it washable? How long will the battery last? Is it comfortable? These are some of the core questions I answer before considering a project completed. I strive not to create only concept work, but usable products. I have a Master's degree from New York University's Interactive Telecommuncations Program and a BA in Computer Science and Japanese Studies from Earlham College. I work and live in Tokyo.
