Happy Automaton

Using salvaged technology, cheap, new or used toys and games, VCRs, scanners, electronic toys and other such home electronics, Leeane brings together a careful pandaemonium of child-like inhibition while breaking, exploring and remaking instruments. When she combines her low-fi circuitry, both revamped factory made and homemade electronics, with micro-controllers and computer programing you can expect nothing but the unexpected.

Happy Automatone is mixed from a collection of her own video and audio loops with an invention dubbed the "SYNCHROMIXER". This mixer is a controller and a mixing patch built with Pure Data. The electronic Arduino-based controller is built into a toy guitar and has myriad features including a skin resistance effect trigger; photocells to help synchronize sound and video output; and a sliding audio scratcher/video scrubber.

The audio loops are all clips recorded from her circuit bent wonders, T's Magic Keyboard and J's Coleco Quarterback. The video loops are created with a bent game control, a Videonics MX-1 and Pure Data.
